Route description
The three impressive waterfalls in the Rieserferner-Ahrn Nature Park are the perfect outing for families. The easy hike starts directly from the parking lot at the Waterfall Bar and takes you along child-friendly paths to several viewpoints, offering stunning views of the waterfalls.
Depending on how motivated your kids are, you can choose different hiking times:
Waterfall: 20 minutes walk | 10-15 meters high
Waterfall: 40 minutes walk | approx. 40 meters high
Waterfall: 55 minutes walk | approx. 40 meters high
The waterfalls can be reached either via the “Wasserfallweg” (Waterfall Trail) marked with No. 2 or the Franziskusweg (St. Francis Trail). Just follow the signs, the waterfalls are hard to miss. You can start from the village center of Sand in Taufers or park directly at the Riva Waterfall Bar for a fee, where the hiking trails begin. A stroller can be used up to the first waterfall, but after that, it’s not possible because the path includes steps.
In winter, the paths can still be icy, and it can get quite chilly. The best time for this hike is from spring to autumn.
In summer, you can also enjoy the Flyline and zip through the trees!
