Route description
This enchanting fairytale playground is located on the Villandro Alp. It’s part of the Rinderplatz Hut and can be reached via a 20-minute walk that’s also stroller-friendly.
Scattered throughout the playground, you’ll find numerous fairytale figures carved into tree trunks – our kids had so much fun guessing which story each one came from. There’s also a large wooden play castle with a slide, a flying fox, climbing ropes, and a nest swing. The playground is nestled in the forest just below the Rinderplatz Hut. At the hut itself, there’s a second, lovingly designed playground to explore.
Park your car at the paid parking area on the Villandro Alp near the Gasser Hut, where you’ll be greeted by ponies and goats right at the start. From there, follow the signs toward the Rinderplatz Hut along a peaceful trail that winds through alpine pine meadows. You’ll pass a small stream where kids can splash around on warm days. After a short walk, you’ll reach the forest – and to your left, the fairytale playground comes into view.
We enjoyed a picnic in the woods and grabbed a drink at the hut afterwards.
Insider tip: Start your hike early to avoid the crowds – Villandro Alp is a popular destination!
