Route description

The trail to the alpine hut Häusler Sam is one of the quieter routes in the Dolomites – a real hidden gem away from the more frequented paths. Along the way, you’re surrounded by the impressive landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. From the hut itself, the view stretches far across the mountains, with the Latemar and Catinaccio ranges shaping the horizon.

The path is easy and suitable for strollers. After about 40 minutes, you’ll reach the hut, where you can enjoy regional cuisine. Donkeys, cows, and llamas are kept nearby, and a small natural playground in the woods offers a welcome distraction for children – giving parents time to relax and take in the view.

Several routes lead to Häusler Sam, the easiest starting in the village of Ega (Eggen) at the Bewallerhof, following trail markers 8 and S. Return via the same route. If you’re up for a longer walk, you can continue on to Lake Carezza (Karersee) in about 1.5 to 2 hours.

In June, the hut is open on weekends and public holidays only; from July onward, it’s open daily. For current opening times, please check the website.
